Calhoun Baptist Church News July 7, 2013~
Rev. David Van Bebber Pastor:

It has been six weeks since our pastor’s accident. He fell over 40 feet and injured his back and both heels. He is working very hard in rehabilitation to regain his full capacity to ambulate on his own. He still has a way to go and request all prayers for his complete recovery. He is going to Riley Kansas this week. To be with his folks to receive more rehabilitation as he is waiting to have surgery on his other foot.
In the meantime, until he can come back to his home church we are asking guest ministers to fill in for him. God will provide for us as, He always has taken care of us at Calhoun Baptist..
We will continue to pray for our Pastor’s complete recovery back to good health

Sunday evening was a very special time at the Calhoun Methodist Church. The Sinspiration was well attended! If you missed this occasion, you missed out on a very enjoyable evening in the Lord. There were a lot of very talented singers and musicians there praising the Lord with their talents and the rest of us enjoyed singing along too!

Our guest speaker today was Brother Randy Hargis.
The message the Lord had put upon his heart and mind was about the Ten Commandments which he chose to be the reading of the Word.

You will find them in Exodus Chapter 20: 1-17 niv.

20 And God spoke all these words:

“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

“You shall have no other gods before Me.

“You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

“You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

13 “You shall not murder.

14 “You shall not commit adultery.

15 “You shall not steal.

16 “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

He also spoke about John 6:1-14 where Jesus calmed the crowd and fed the “Five Thousand People” with the lunch from a boy with his five small barley loaves and two small fish,
and had food left over!

Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand

Some time after this, Jesus crossed to the far shore of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias), and a great crowd of people followed him because they saw the signs he had performed by healing the sick. Then Jesus went up on a mountainside and sat down with his disciples. The Jewish Passover Festival was near.

When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.

Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages[a] to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!”

Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”

10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). 11 Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.

12 When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” 13 So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.

14 After the people saw the sign Jesus performed, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
This Miracle performed by Jesus is mentioned in all four of the Gospels in the Bible!
