Church News – February 7th

Pastor Mark Abney titled his sermon this week Saved Much, Loved Much. Luke 7:41-43 was his text. Some people have such small sin debt that they believe it is insignificant. They believe doing good things will cancel out their sin debt. But that’s not so. God requires us to acknowledge our sins and confess them.

Our prayer concerns include Pat Kampe, Jerry Reiners, Malachi Yoder, Michael Parker, Ashley Wheatley and Carla Smith. Please remember to include them in your prayer time.

Birthday wishes are extended this week to Debbie Willings, February 4th and Ken Willings, February 6th. We hope their day was special.

Gospel Kids are studying a new unit Into the World. This week’s story was “Jesus Was Born”.The big picture question: Is Jesus God or human? Children will discover that as the Son of God, Jesus is both fully God and fully human. Children ages kindergarten through sixth grades are encouraged to join us on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 – 7:00 pm.

Celebrate Recovery continues Sunday evenings starting with supper at 5:30 pm, large group worship at 6:30 and small group at 7:30 pm. Last week a Super Bowl party was held to cheer the Chiefs on to victory. This group also cheers one another on to victory in Jesus by being set free of their hurts, hangups and habits.

On Sunday, February 16 we will have a church wide carry-in dinner after the AM service. Everyone is invited. Bring a covered dish or two and enjoy the good food and fellowship. Mark your calendars and plan on attending.

You are always welcome to worship with us at Calhoun Baptist Church. Sunday School begins at 10:00 am with a class for every age then Worship follows at 11:00 am. Come join us in the work of Christ. We look forward to seeing you.
