Church News – March 6th

Are you a seed sower? Using Matthew 13:24-30 as his text Pastor Mark Abney continued with the parables of Jesus. He titled his message Living with Weeds. Jesus gives a clear interpretation of this parable. He, Jesus, is the one sowing seeds of the gospel. When we share the word of truth no one hears unless the Holy Spirit convicts. The Holy Spirit is essential for salvation. When we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, the Holy Spirit comes into our lives and we are sealed. What are YOU doing with Jesus?

Our prayer concerns include Pat Kampe, Carla Smith, Cooper Ayers, and Jerry Reiners. Please remember the family of young Malachi Yoder in their sorrow.

We had several birthdays this week. Shirley Jackson and Nadine Pennock celebrated their special day on March 1st. Phyllis Richardson celebrated March 3rd and Myleigh Willings celebrated March 7th. We wish them all a very happy birthday and a blessed year.

Our Wednesday Gospel Kids lesson was “Jesus As a Child”. God sent Jesus to earth with a purpose. Even as a child, Jesus wanted to honor God. God blessed Jesus as He got ready to follow His Father’s plan: to die on the cross and rescue people from sin. Children ages kindergarten through sixth grade is welcome to join us on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 – 7:00 pm.

Celebrate Recovery continues Sunday evenings starting with supper at 5:30 pm, large group worship at 6:30 and small group at 7:30 pm. “Anyone who comes to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6. There is a place for you at CR.

Remember to set those clocks ahead one hour so you won’t be late for church! Spring forward.

You are welcome to come worship with us at Calhoun Baptist Church where we are living, sharing and telling the story of Christ. Sunday School begins at 10:00 am with a class for every age then Worship follows at 11:00 am. Come join us in the work.
