Church News – March 27th

Worship took on a different look Sunday as we stayed in our homes.  Due to “social distancing” our service was closed to members but Pastor Mark Abney conducted a live service from church.  His message was titled Like a Good Neighbor, Our Savior Is There.   This is the parable of the Good Samaritan from Luke 10:25-37.  We live in the days when we need good samaritans and as Christians that should be us.  It is love that calls us, more than anything else, to be “Jesus” to others because we have the “love of Jesus” in us.  This parable looks deep into our hearts. During this pandemic, our country has no shortage of needs; spiritual and physical.  We are God’s people so are we really willing to help? We must put aside our prejudices and get involved to become the hands and feet of Jesus.  As we become more involved we will act with love and compassion and become like the Good Samaritan.

Hebrews 4:16 says “Let us then approach the throne of grace with every confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Please lift up in prayer our nation’s leaders and health care workers, Lexie, Dorris Ogdan, David James, Carla Smith, Cooper Ayers, and Jerry Reiners.  We are happy to report that Pat Kampe is now finishing her recuperation at home.

Celebrate Recovery continues on Sunday evenings at 6:30 pm via live stream on our church website.  Join in from the comfort of your home. Stay home and stay healthy.

Due to the Covid 19 virus and CDC recommendations services remain canceled for this next Sunday.   We encourage you to remain faithful with your offering or tithe. You may mail it to Calhoun Baptist Church, PO Box 33, Calhoun, Missouri 65323.

Singspiration has been canceled for this Sunday, March 29th.  We look forward to the fifth Sunday in May when we can gather and lift our voices in praise.

Join us on Sunday for a live stream sermon at 11:00 am.  Let us remember during these concerning times that God is in control and He is our hope and healer.
