Church News – April 17th

Our “drive-in” Easter service was well attended.  It’s so good to be able to see our church family, even if from the security of our cars.  A friendly wave or shout out is most welcoming in these difficult times. The rain even held off as we came together to celebrate our risen Savior.  Pastor Mark Abney brought the message Easter 2020.  His text was from the book of Mark.  2020 vision means you can see perfectly.  Let’s see Easter for what it is. This year Easter will go down as the year when churches didn’t have Easter egg hunts, people didn’t worry about wearing pretty clothes and families didn’t gather for a big dinner.  Maybe this year God wanted us to celebrate an Easter that is about Him. Isn’t Easter about Jesus’ death and resurrection? In the midst of this pandemic God has done amazing things; He has turned Easter back to himself.  God has gotten the attention of many who have never heard the message of Easter. If we look with spiritual eyes and hear with spiritual ears we can see and hear God working. This is the year God returned Easter to it’s proper glory.  This year we see 2020 because we see that Easter is all about Jesus, His victory over death and resurrection from the grave.

Let us continue to lift up in prayer our nation’s leaders and health care workers, those who have COVID 19, school children, teachers, and families.  Praise God that he hears and answers our prayers.

Celebrate Recovery continues on Sunday evenings at 6:30 pm via live stream on our church website.  Join in from the comfort of your home. Stay home and stay healthy.

We will once again come together to worship in a drive-in service.   Meet in our back parking lot at 11:00 am. We will remain in our cars and hear the word of God from our pastor.  In this way, we can maintain social distance and still greet one another with smiles and waves.

We will be collecting offerings at our drive-in service and will also be collecting for the Annie Armstrong home missions offering this Sunday. We encourage you to remain faithful with your offering or tithe.  You may also mail it into Calhoun Baptist Church, PO Box 33, Calhoun, Missouri 65323.

Join us on Sunday for a live stream sermon at 11:00 am if you are unable to make the drive-in service.  Let us remember during these concerning times that God is in control and He is our hope and healer.
