Church News – August 7th 2020

We were blessed on Sunday to have a special guest speaker, Don Hamilton, share with us about a church plant he is starting in Kansas City.  Don told how he came to realize the need for the church and about his background.  Using scripture text Acts 9:8 -19 he shared the story of Ananias who was used by God.  Ananias was obedient when asked by God to go to Saul, who was well known for killing Christians and pray for him.  Upon doing so scales fell off of Saul’s eyes healing his blindness and Ananias became a hero.  We may not be the hero to many but we could be the hero to one.  Allow yourself to be used by God.  Don asked us to be heroes for his new church plant in Kansas City by praying for the new church.

Continue praying for Chad Price, Caroline Wilson, Ashley Wheatley, healthcare workers and emergency personnel, law enforcement, and our country’s leaders.  Pat Kampe was back in church Sunday wearing her lovely smile.  How blessed we are to approach the throne of grace with our prayers and to be confident knowing God hears our prayers and answers each one.  Praise be to God!

Our new ministry of live streaming the worship service continues.  Go to our Facebook page at 11:00 am on Sunday mornings to worship with us.  If you are unable to attend in person you will now be able to join us to worship in real-time.

Work continues on the new bell tower and steeple that was placed on the roof.  Our pastor, Mark Abney constructed the bell tower and continues to oversee the completion of this project.  It is a great addition to the church building.  We eagerly anticipate the bells that will sound beautiful songs throughout our community.

Basic school supplies for the Calhoun R-VIII school children were distributed Friday evening and Saturday morning July 31 and August 1.  Over 20 students received free supplies for their school year.  Calhoun schools will open Tuesday, August 25th.  Let us remember to be in prayer for students, teachers, and school personnel.

Celebrate Recovery continues at 5:30 pm on Sunday evenings with a light supper.  Then at 6:30 pm, large group worship starts followed by small groups at 7:30 pm.  You are invited to be a part of this ministry.

We encourage you to remain faithful with your offering or tithe.  Bring it in person or mail it into Calhoun Baptist Church, PO Box 33, Calhoun, Missouri 65323.

Come join us this Sunday morning at 10:00 am for Sunday School and Worship at 11:00 am.  You will be most welcome.
