Church News – March 5th 2021

We live in a broken world and sometimes it’s rough.  For God So Loved was the title of Pastor Mark Abney’s message.  His text was a scripture we are all familiar with, John 3:16.  There is evil all around us so what brings you peace, joy, and confidence?  You are “so loved” by God.  He sent Jesus to die for our sins because of this love.  God’s love for us will never stop or give up on you.  Have you asked Jesus to come into your heart and be your savior and Lord?  If you have, your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.  Will your name be found there?  Remember, God loves you and believes you are worthy.

We wish a happy birthday to Nadine Pennock and Shirley Jackson who celebrated their special day on March 1st and Phyllis Richardson who celebrated March 3rd.  Our prayer is for many more happy years for these ladies.

On our prayer concerns list this week we have Naomi Grace, Martha Lowe, Ron Blankenship, Susie Reynolds, the Richey Family, the Mike Cona family, and the Jeremy Taylor family.   How blessed we are that God hears and answers our prayers.

The lesson at Celebrate Recovery on Sunday was TURN.  Turning your life to Christ is a once-in-a-lifetime commitment!  Turning your will over to Christ requires a daily recommitment! CR continues every Sunday evening at 5:30 with a meal, worship at 6:30 pm followed by small group at 7:30.

Drive-in, inside, and live streaming of our worship service is available.  To hear the worship service within the city limits tune your radio dial to 93.1 FM.  Live streaming of our worship service begins at 11:00 am.   Check it out by going to our Facebook page and you can worship with us in real-time.  Pastor Mark’s sermon is also available as a podcast on our website.

We hope that you will continue to support the church with your tithes and offerings during this difficult time.  If you are unable to come in person, please mail your offerings to Calhoun Baptist Church, PO Box 33, Calhoun, MO 65323.

Come join us for Sunday School beginning at 10:00 am and Worship at 11:00 am.  We look forward to greeting you.

    Greetings Pastor!

My name is Jason, I came across your church when calling on Calhoun Elementary School today.

The librarian immediately mentioned your church as a possible community partner for providing the students with some new books this Spring or this coming Fall. When building a culture of reading in the elementary schools, I often partner with community organizations and faith-based groups to gift new 1st edition, hardback, award winning titles to their local schools.

Many groups will put a little sticker or something on the inside cover that will read “From your Friends at _________ Church” – again, it’s a tangible way for the kids and families to feel the community caring for them. From $200 up, a gift can be secured and new books will be provided every month of the school year.

If interest in discussing this further, just reach out. Maybe we can set something up with the school

    Blessings
