Calhoun Baptist Church News, July 1, 2012 ~
Our speaker for today was Brother Lloyd from “The Gideons International.” He told all about the organization and shaired many testimonies from folks who have accepted Christ as their Savior because a member of the Gideons put a Bible where they could access it to read and change their lives. The organization describes its members as to the story of Gideon in the Old Testament book of Judges ch. 6: verses 6-36.
Gideon was a man who was willing to do exactly what God wanted him to do, regardless of his own judgment as to the plans or results. Humility, faith, and obedience were his great elements of character.
This is the standard that The Gideons International is trying to establish in all its members, each man to be ready to do God’s will at any time, at any place, and in any way that the Holy Spirit leads.
In addition to their well-known hotel-room Bibles, the Gideons also distribute Bibles to members of the military of various countries, to hospitals, nursing homes, prisons, M P’s and some students.
In Henry County alone there are at least 1500 New Testament Bibles put in rooms of the different facilities in the surrounding area.
God is doing great things at Calhoun Baptist Church, there were three folks who accepted Jesus as their Savior and will be showing their faith by being baptized. Also, one young man rededicated his life to the Lord this morning!
