Calhoun Baptist Church News Sunday June 16, 2013~
Rev. David Van Bebber, Pastor:
At the end of the short Spring and
the beginning of a wonderful Summer, it was good to be in the house of the Lord
again!
Brother Gerald Barrow welcomed everyone with a smile and a little funny
statement about how we all know now where Brother Terry Barrow gets his good
looks. This did make us all laugh.
He announced the upcoming events and lead us in our opening prayer.
During Praise and Prayer Request time there were praises that our Pastor David
is recovering from his accident after having several surgeries and is now
working hard on his therapy in the Rehabilitation Department at K.U. Medical Hospital, in
Kansas City, Kansas. Our prayers are still many for him and he appreciates all of your prayers too. We pray for his complete recovery from the injuries incurred from his fall a month ago, on Memorial Day while he was helping his Dad wash windows.
We will continue to pray for our Pastor’s complete recovery back to good health. We also request your prayers for him too!
Our guest Speaker this morning was Brother Charles Kelly. His wife, Sister Hazel gave her testimony for the Lord. She told us how God has healed her from cancer in the past.
Bother Kelly’s sermon was about
“Do you recognize Jesus?”He chose reading of the
scriptures in the book of Matthew Ch:16:13-19~Matthew 16:13-19

Peter Declares That Jesus Is the Messiah13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
He also referred to 2 Corinthians 5:17: (NIV)
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
These verses tell us how God sent his son Jesus to die on the cross for the redemption of our sins.
It is an amazing and wonderful experience to know him as Lord of ones life?
