Calhoun Baptist Church News July 14, 2013~ Rev. David Van Bebber Pastor:
We will continue to pray for our Pastor’s recuperation from his injuries he received from his accident of a fall on Memorial Day of this year. He is told by his therapist he is improving each day. He is receiving
out-patient therapy in his hometown as he is at his parents home in Riley, Kansas.
Our guest speaker today was Shaun McCormick. He brought his message to us today from the 23rd. Psalm.
The Lord the Shepherd of His People~
New King James Version
A Psalm of David.23 The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell[a] in the house of the Lord
Forever.
Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me.
Most of us learned this Psalm of David when we were small children. It is so comforting to know this Psalm. Brother Shaun compared our Pastor David to the Shepard David, the Psalmist. He is the Shepard of the flock of people at our church just as the psalmist David was a Shepard of his sheep in his fields.
