Calhoun Baptist Church News September 22, 2013~
Rev. David Van Bebber Pastor:

The congregation met earlier than usual for a Breakfast provided by Brother David’s mother Cheryl Lee Van Bebber. It was in honor of Valerie Shaffer for everyone to meet her, Brother David’s girlfriend!
Brother David opened our worship services with a welcome to all and introduced his Girlfriend Valerie to the congregation. He also wanted everyone to know that his mother was present. Most of us had already met Sister Van Bebber from previous visits. He then reported the announcements of upcoming events. Brother Terry Barrow opened the Worship Services with a prayer for the reading of the Word.
The Praise song this morning was a new rendition of “The Amazing Grace” by Chris Tomlin. called “Amazing Grace, My Chains are Gone”.
We had several visitors today but I want to mention another very talented musician, Brother Scott Brooks played the Piano while everyone was awe stuck at the way he made those keys ring out with praises to the Lord!

The reading of the Word was from Matthew 13:1-8 (NASB)

Jesus Teaches in Parables:

13 That day Jesus went out of the house and was sitting by the sea. And [a]large crowds gathered to Him, so He got into a boat and sat down, and the whole crowd was standing on the beach.

And He spoke many things to them in parables, saying, “Behold, the sower went out to sow; and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up. Others fell on the rocky places, where they did not have much soil; and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil. But when the sun had risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. Others fell [b]among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them out. And others fell on the good soil and *yielded a crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.

Jesus Teaches in Parables. We will be studying the next few weeks about the different Parables in which Jesus used to teach.
The Sower of Seeds Parable is the first one we are learning about. We must be ready to sow the seeds (Gods Word), in season and out of season. We do not have to have all of the answers, we do need to be ready to go and spread the Word at any point in time, We can not make any excuses as Christians. Because today is the day of Salvation and everyone needs to know who Jesus is and know that He has come to save all lost sinners. We must go, that is the Great Commandment or Commission.

Matthew 28:16-20 (NIV)

The Great Commission

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Go into all of the world and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Here are a few ways we can sow seeds on fertile ground. Give to the work of God by honoring Him with our substance, and with our first fruits. Give to the poor, stranger, widow, fatherless, needy and they that cannot recompense you. Give to missionaries and other spiritual leaders.

This month is Missouri Missions Month. We can help spread the Gospel by giving our offerings through the Rheubin L. South Missions.

Thought for this week is: Sow seeds on fertile ground that produces maximum output!
