Calhoun Baptist Church News, October 13, 2013~
Rev. David Van Bebber Pastor:
Our Pastor David welcomed everyone to the house of the Lord. Then he gave the announcements of upcoming events. He also introduced his Grandmother, Sister Patty Merritt and invited her to open our worship services with prayer.
We are always so glad to have visitors at Calhoun Baptist Church to worship with us!
The messages from the book of Matthew Brother David has been bringing to us are very interesting to learn about. There are several different Parables in which Jesus taught the people in the crowds.
Matthew 13:33 NASB, was the Reading of the Word this morning.
The Leaven
33 He spoke another parable to them, “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three pecks of flour until it was all leavened.”
Jesus told them about another parable. “The kingdom is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all through the dough.”
Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable. So was fulfilled what was spoken through the Prophet Isaiah; I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world.”
Thought for the week: How can we grow in our walk with Christ if we do not have any leavening agents in our lives?
