Church News – November 22nd

As we enter into this season of Thanksgiving we are certainly thankful for Jesus Christ our Savior. As proclaimed by the disciple Andrew in John 1:19-42, Jesus Christ is the Messiah. This was the text for Pastor Mark Abney’s message titled Messiah. Jesus Christ is the one and only true savior of the world. He was divinely selected and is the perfect king.

Please remember to lift up in prayer Debbie Barton, Michael Parker, Jerry Reiners, Karen Harris and Zoe Andreason. We continue to extend Christian love and sympathy to the Claudean Brown family. God hears our prayers and always answers.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Darlene Fabyanic November 19, Margaret Fields November 20 and Jim Pogue November 22. We pray their day was special and pleasantly memorable.

Gospel Kid’s continues to meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 – 7:00 pm. We have completed our unit and children were left with the knowledge that God does keep His promises and is always faithful even when we are not. We will delve into thankfulness as we approach Thanksgiving. Last week we spent some time packing boxes for “Operation Christmas Child” through Samaritan’s Purse. The kids enjoyed having a small part in sharing the love of God with another child.

Celebrate Recovery is every Sunday evening starting with supper at 5:30 pm followed by large group worship at 6:30 and small groups at 7:30 pm. “Let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth,”1 John 3:18. Come and see for yourself where God is at work.

Last Sunday we celebrated our Thanksgiving Dinner. A contributed meal was enjoyed by everyone able to attend. The food was delicious as well as plentiful and the fellowship was sweet.

November 30th we will decorate the church for Christ’s birthday. Come at 5:30 pm and bring chili, soup, sandwiches, or something to go with these. We will make our building look festive then fellowship over some delicious cuisine. You won’t want to miss out.

You are always welcome to worship with us at Calhoun Baptist Church where we are living, sharing, and telling the story of Christ. Sunday School begins at 10:00 am with a class for every age then Worship follows at 11:00 am. Come join us in the work of Christ.
