Church News – January 10th

On the first Sunday in a new year we opened our worship with the Lord’s Supper remembrance. Let us remember daily what our Lord has done for us. Pastor Mark Abney chose Mark 4:1 – 20 The Parable of the Sower for his message. In this parable, Jesus was speaking to people who understood different kinds of soil and their importance. When our hearts are hard like the hard soil the Lord must “till” our hearts to soften them so the word of God can grow in our lives. If we are rooted in the right soil we will find water and nutrients. When we are rooted in the word of God we will find everything we need to live.

Prayer concerns this week are for Raven Pendergrass, Pat Kampe, Jim Bilbruck, Jodi Hendricks, Pam Townsend and Jerry Reiners. Our hope is in knowing that God hears and answers every prayer.

This week young Benjamin Willings turns 3 years old. We wish him a very happy birthday and blessed year.

Gospel Kid’s resumed again after the Christmas vacation. Children ages kindergarten through sixth grades are welcome to join us on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 – 7:00 pm.

Celebrate Recovery continues Sunday evenings starting with supper at 5:30 pm followed by large group worship at 6:30 and small groups at 7:30 pm. This week the lesson was on DENIAL. In what areas of your life are you now beginning to face the truth and break the effects of denial? God is at work. Come and see for yourself.

The door is always open for you to worship with us at Calhoun Baptist Church. Sunday School begins at 10:00 am with a class for every age then Worship follows at 11:00 am. Come join us in the work of Christ.
