Church News – January 31st

Pastor Mark Abney used Luke 6:47-48 as his text for his message. When we have sin in our heart our soul is restless. The spirit will convict us. Storms will come up in our lives but Jesus is able to calm any storm. He has power over any personal issue in your life. If your “house” is built on the Rock, Jesus Christ, you will be able to weather the storm.

Our prayer concerns this week include Pat Kampe, Jim Bilbruck, Jerry Reiners, Malachi Yoder, Michael Parker and Ashley Wheatley. Remember them during your prayer time.

We wish a very happy birthday to Terry Townsend whose special day is January 27th. Happy anniversary wishes go out to Joe and Phyllis Richardson who celebrated on January 29th. Blessings to all.

We are beginning a new unit of study in Gospel Kids – Into the World. Our big picture question will be Is Jesus God or human? Children will discover that as the Son of God, Jesus is both fully God and fully human. Children ages kindergarten through sixth grades are welcome to join us on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 – 7:00 pm.

Celebrate Recovery continues Sunday evenings starting with supper at 5:30 pm, large group worship at 6:30 and small group at 7:30 pm. This week the group was blessed with a testimony of what God has done in the life of one of His children. Come be a part of CR. God is at work.

This will be our final Sunday to collect benevolent funds. It’s not too late to be a part. Please pray about what you will give.

You are always more than welcome to worship with us at Calhoun Baptist Church. Sunday School begins at 10:00 am with a class for every age then Worship follows at 11:00 am. Come join us in the work of Christ. We look forward to seeing you.
