Church News – March 20th

Our opening hymn on Sunday morning was “Jesus Loves Me” and what an important reminder it was during these trying times.  Pastor Mark Abney brought the message Kingdom Value using Matthew 13:44-46.  In the parable of the pearl, the man found a great treasure.  That’s the way we should feel about the kingdom of heaven. We receive the kingdom of heaven the moment we receive Jesus.  Your kingdom citizenship is holy and valuable. Treasure it. Jesus paid a great price for it.

Pastor Mark also guided us in prayer for our nation and leaders on the National Day of Prayer.  Hebrews 4:16 says “Let us then approach the throne of grace with every confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Remember to lift up our nation, leaders and health care workers.  Other prayer requests include Dorris Ogdan, David James, Carla Smith, Cooper Ayers, Jerry Reiners, Pat Kampe, and Drew Willings.

The Gospel Kids did not meet this week due to spring break.  When school resumes, children ages kindergarten through sixth grade is welcome to join us on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 – 7:00 pm.

Celebrate Recovery met on Sunday evening starting with supper at 5:30 pm, large group worship at 6:30 and small group at 7:30 pm.  We all have a hurt, habit or hangup so there is a place for you at CR.

Due to the Covid 19 virus and CDC recommendations services are canceled for the next two weeks.  If you would like to continue with your offering or tithe, please mail it to Calhoun Baptist Church, PO Box 33, Calhoun, Missouri 65323.
