Church News – June 5th

We opened our worship with the song “What A Friend We Have In Jesus”.  How good it is to be in worship with our Christian brothers and sisters.  Using Psalm 29 as his text, Pastor Mark Abney brought the message Worshiping God.  Worship is more than a ritualistic activity.  It is attributing worth to someone.  To worship God we attribute worth to Him.  We worship Him because He is holy and worthy of our worship and praise.  God is looking for those who align themselves with his spirit and truth to worship Him.

We wish happy birthday to several individuals in the month of May; Kay Pogue May 8, Melva Slack May 10, Jenneva Ridgway May 10, and Joe Richardson May 29.  Happy May Anniversaries to Drew and Melissa Willings May 5 and Ken and Debbie Willings May 24.

Let us not be neglectful in these difficult times to be diligent in praying for our health care workers, law enforcement, families in distress, and our country.  How reassuring it is to remember that God is in control.

On June 7th we will have a fish fry at 5:30 pm.  Plan on attending and bring a covered dish of food.   Celebrate Recovery will continue at 6:30 pm.  Everyone is invited.

We will have Vacation Bible School this year but it will look different.  It will be more like a backyard bible club.  All activities will be held outside from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm.  Children will enjoy bible stories, crafts, and games.  Yummy snacks will be served.  Plan on sending those kiddos Monday through Wednesday night June 22nd -24th.

We encourage you to remain faithful with your offering or tithe.  Bring it in person or mail it into Calhoun Baptist Church, PO Box 33, Calhoun, Missouri 65323.

You are invited to join us this Sunday morning at 10:00 am for Sunday School and Worship at 11:00 am.  Remember God is in control and He is greater than ANYTHING!
