Church News – July 24th

Our opening hymn was “We Have Heard the Joyful Sound” and in truth, we gathered in worship to proclaim that Jesus saves.  Pastor Mark Abney delivered the message Fight For Your Faith with the book of Jude as his text.  In society today our faith is under attack. We are called, loved, and kept by God once we give our life to Him.  We must not become content.  We must fight and exercise our faith.  Be prepared to face the “giants” in our world.  Fight for a relationship with Jesus.  Fight every day, for the time, is before us and we need to be adamant.  Who is called to fight for the faith?  Every believer.

Please remember to keep in prayer Chad Price, Caroline Wilson, Ashley Wheatley, healthcare workers and emergency personnel, law enforcement, and our country.  How great is our God that he listens and answers every prayer!

We send birthday wishes out to Shirley Bilbruck who celebrated her special day on July 22.  We pray Shirley has many more.  Vernon and Pat Kampe celebrated a wedding anniversary on July 24th.  Congratulations to this special couple.

Sunday, July 19th saw the beginning of a new ministry for our church.  We began live-streaming the worship service at 11:00 am.  If you are unable to attend in person you will now be able to join us in worship by going to our website and watching in real-time.

On Monday our new bell tower and steeple were placed on the roof by a huge crane.  A big thank you goes to all who helped and especially our pastor, Mark Abney, who constructed the bell tower and is responsible for overseeing the project.  It is a great addition to the church building.

We are collecting school supplies for the Calhoun R-VIII school children.   Please bring your donations of basic supplies to the church by Sunday, July 26th.  They will be distributed to children in the district early in August.

Celebrate Recovery continues at 5:30 pm on Sunday evenings with a light supper.  Then at 6:30 pm, large group worship starts followed by small groups at 7:30 pm.  Come and be a part of this ministry.

We encourage you to remain faithful with your offering or tithe.  Bring it in person or mail it into Calhoun Baptist Church, PO Box 33, Calhoun, Missouri 65323.

You are invited to join us this Sunday morning at 10:00 am for Sunday School and Worship at 11:00 am.  Remember God is in control and He is greater than all our circumstances.
